Dunedin Midwinter Carnival 2026
WHAT
A celebration of winter in the city centre including large-scale projections, giant lanterns, live music, dancers, story tellers, aerial performance, food trucks and hundreds of children carrying lanterns. This is a beautiful event with a strong heart.

Wheel chair access available. Disabled drop-off zone in closed section of Moray Place – enter via Princes Street.
Lantern Workshops
WHAT
Lantern Workshops will run across three weekends before the Midwinter Carnival, inviting the community to come together, get creative, and craft their very own glowing lanterns to be part of the magic on Carnival night.
