Performers

Year after year, we’re incredibly fortunate to welcome an inspiring mix of professional, community, and cultural performers to the Midwinter Carnival. From school choirs and the Dunedin Youth Symphony Orchestra, to community and professional dance troupes, aerialists, contortion performers, roving characters, and local musicians, these artists help bring the Carnival to life, lighting up the night together.

Our roving performers move through the Carnival in imaginative handmade costumes, transforming into glowing characters and whimsical creatures that add movement, magic, and playful surprises to every corner of the event. Each costume and performance is carefully crafted and coordinated to ensure a joyful and enchanting experience for all visitors.
