Art Team

Each year, our incredible art team works tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the magic of the Carnival to life. This talented group of giant lantern artists, costumiers, and prop makers design and create spectacular lanterns alongside intricately handcrafted costumes, transforming the event into a vibrant, immersive experience.

Alongside new creations, the team also revisits and revitalises past works, bringing much-loved lanterns and costumes back to life through careful restoration and reimagining. This balance of renewal and reinvention adds depth to the event, connecting each year’s Carnival to those that came before.

Many of these artists wear multiple hats within the wider organisation contributing as event manager, performance coordinator, and workshop facilitators bringing a deep, holistic understanding to every aspect of the Carnival. The team is supported by the Artistic Director, as well as a dedicated network of emerging artists and volunteers, all of whom play a vital role in shaping the creative vision and bringing it to life.
