Dunedin Midwinter Carnival
A celebration of winter in the city centre including a Carnival Procession featuring giant lanterns, large-scale projections, costumed dancers, musicians and hundreds of children carrying lanterns. In 2021 the event will feature two zones – the Octagon music and projection area and a Night Market on George Street.
Saturday 26 June 2021 (postponement day 27 June). Start time 3:00pm
The Octagon, Dunedin, and surrounding streets. All roads to the Octagon will be closed from 2:00pm
Koha/Donation of $5 recommended. Look out for Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust collectors.
Wheel chair access available. Disabled drop off and pick up in Upper Stuart Street – please show your Disability Card. Adults please allow children and disabled to sit in front on road front during the Procession.
The Mitre 10 MEGA Lantern Workshops will be held on the four weekends leading up to the main Midwinter Carnival event (26 June 2021). This is a great way for families to get involved while enjoying a creative activity together.
