Lantern workshops are held on the four weekends leading up to the main Midwinter Carnival event. This is a great way for families to get involved while enjoying a creative activity together.
Almost anyone can make a lantern and it is an enjoyable creative project. All materials are provided and trained instructors are on hand. It takes roughly two hours to make a lantern and everyone who makes a lantern becomes part of the procession on Carnival night.
Bookings are essential, our workshops are popular and book out very quickly. We recommend anyone interested in the workshops like our Facebook page and/or sign up to our e-newsletter to stay up to date with workshop dates. All children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. There is a charge to attend the workshops to cover materials, venue hire and staffing. This is paid on the day (cash only).
The theme of the Carnival changes each year and so do the designs of the lanterns. To stay up-to-date with lantern workshop dates and info please subscribe to our newsletter below.
A booking link will be visible on this page in May 2021.
